The last few years, Lake Oahe, has been on fire with large numbers of walleye and northern pike being caught each year. Last year was as good as it gets fishing walleye! The fishing was as good as boats catching 80 to 100 walleyes a day! The majority of the walleye caught are between 14 inches to 24 inchers with a bigger fish being caught.

Although the weather turned on us on Sunday we had a great hunt with filling all our tags. Craig and Andy were true sportsman and are great turkey hunters. We look forward to having you again this fall to chase some Ring Neck Pheasants!

After, Andy and Craig left us we had the pleasure of having our friend Coach Bud Grant and his friend Jim Hanson in camp for some turkey hunting. The weather was a bit uncooperative and the birds were too. All and all we seen birds and heard allot of gobbling but they just were not as active as the opening day. We still managed to bag a couple of birds though and Coach was happy with the success.

Minnesota SCI will be holding its 37th annual World Hunting Expo February 24th-25th at the DoubleTree Hotel in Bloomington Minnesota.  Minnesota’s largest hunting-specific show, the World Hunting Expo features world class outfitters and professional hunters from around the world, top Minnesota taxidermists, Wildlife Artists, and many other exhibitors.  The expo is open to the public free of charge from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Friday, February 24th and from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday the 25th.  We will be holding public auction on Friday the 24th starting at 7:00 PM, where we will be auctioning off a variety of merchandise including international hunts, fishing trips and artwork.  Our main auction and banquet start at 4:00 on Saturday the 25th.  Please note, you do not have to be a member to attend the banquet.  The live auction includes over 40 items including hunts from Africa, South America, New Zealand, and North America, original artwork, and fine firearms.  In addition, we will be raffling off over $25,000.00 in firearms and other merchandise.

We are so greatful for our military and when they auctioned that hunt off there were many watery eyes in the building. It was the high light of the entire evening and we are proud to put our name with that event. There was $19,000.00 raised for these two hunts! The SCI Chapter President is bringing additional members to the week of the Wounded Warrior Hunt to Upland Bird Hunt to support and give back to Browns Hunting Ranch.
