Yes, you may go online to purchase your licenses before your arrival at South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks. We can assist you with purchasing the appropriate licenses once you reach Brown’s if you have not already done so.
Comfortable waterproof hunting clothing and boots for all climates. Our autumn weather is unpredictable on the prairie and can range from below freezing to 70 plus degrees. Layers that you can remove as the day warms are very important. Veteran wingshooters know that ‘boots kill birds’. Be sure to wear your new footwear prior to your hunt to get them broken in.
Blaze orange clothing is required in the field with all our firearm hunts. Camouflage clothing if you plan on bow hunting.
Casual clothing for around the lodge and cabins. You should include a couple of pairs of clean slip-on boots or shoes to go from your cabin to the main lodge, about 50 yards.
Make sure to bring your favorite shotgun, rifle, or bow and arrows, appropriate for the game you will be after. We recommend 12 gauge and high base lead 4 and 5 shot pheasant load shells for pheasant and upland birds.
Don’t forget to bring the appropriate ammunition for your firearm. We have a limited selection of ammo available in the lodge for purchase.
You might also want to bring protective eye wear and ear protection for warm-up trap shooting.
We provide exceptional professional guides with well-trained hunting dogs. You are welcome to bring your own dog. You may board them in our heated kennel, or keep them in a dog crate in your heated, enclosed mudroom. Please be in control of your dog at all times and you are required to dispose of their waste appropriately. Guest dogs are not allowed in the main lodge.
Our fishing packages include a trip with a professional guide along with boat, tackle, bait and fish cleaning.
Yes, if you’d like to bring your own boat, you are welcome to do so.
We provide complimentary transportation to and from Gettysburg Municipal Airport. We will also pick up from Pierre Regional Airport (60 miles from lodge) and Aberdeen Regional Airport (120 miles from lodge). Please be sure to coordinate your transportation with us before your arrival, (605) 765-9150.
If you are flying into Bismarck, North Dakota, we suggest renting a vehicle as we do no offer transportation to and from this airport.
